About the Design Process

Stage 1: Consult
The exciting time has come to build your dream home or renovate an existing residence! During our initial free consultation (in-person, over the phone, or via Zoom), you are encouraged to bring along all requirements you may have in regards to your custom design project. This wish list may consist of square footage, number of rooms, use of space and the general architectural style and feel that interests you. In addition, please share pictures, sketches, websites, and any other materials that may help convey your vision. Local building codes, zoning and design restrictions will also be discussed and taken into consideration.

Stage 2: Design
After reviewing all the details related to your project, a quote based on a price per square foot will be presented along with a fee schedule, or if better suited, an hourly rate will be established. I will then begin the task of transferring all design ideas and requirements into design drawings of the floor plans which include the room layouts with walls, windows, doors, dimensions, and square footage. Photo-realistic 3D renderings will also be included for the exterior design so that you get a truly accurate representation of what the final result will be. Digital copies will be forwarded to you for review.
-
Stage 3: Review
After you receive the plans and have time to review all the drawings, we can connect in person, over a Zoom/Meet/Teams call, or by phone to discuss any potential revisions of the layout & design. We’ll then make any changes necessary to the plans until we dial them in just right. After you sign off on the completed design drawings, we will proceed to the final stage.
-
Stage 4: Finalize
During this last stage, after all changes have been made and requirements met, final detailed permit/construction drawings will produced. You will then be provided with PDF copies of the drawings to be printed, so you or your builder can submit to your city or regional district to obtain your building permit. Let the building begin!
